Picking The Perfect Colors For Your Child’s Room

Color

Taking a look at some standard colors and knowing what kinds of emotions they trigger might assist in understanding the right fit for the kid’s room decor.

Colors are crucial. Not only do they define our world, but they also have tremendous effects on the human psyche. Picking the right colors is quite significant in defining what your child’s room will mean to him or her. As children have different personalities, so would the different colors work uniquely on them. Nevertheless, certain universal colors could be used in getting the right ambiance for everyone. Consider the world of colors to help pick the right shade for your child.

Red

This color induces heart rates, excites and energizes. Using red could work for a laidback or inactive child and induce more activity and response from them. Excess red, on the other hand, could bring about a loss of focus, and aggression. It would be wise to limit the use of this color to accents, and probably eliminate it for a child with aggressive traits or low attention span.

Blues

This color has a calming effect on the mind and body and would work well with just about anyone. This would be great for an overactive child, or one prone to tantrums, as it helps them relax.

Orange

Orange is a great color for warmth and friendship. It works in stimulating communication and building confidence in children.

Yellow

Yellow is another color associated with warmth and cheerfulness. It has been proven to increase concentration in the softer hues. The brighter shades help memory. Strong shades foster anger and agitation. A great way to play around using the color is by adding a couple of yellow art or furniture pieces in their rooms.

Purple

Purple symbolizes royalty and passion. It helps in developing creativity and compassion but might be too much for sensitive children. Pink is traditionally associated with girls, but this calming color could work for both sexes.

Brown

Brown and earth tones are cozy, warmth-inducing colors that put children at ease and make them comfortable. White and cream could be mixed to cool down any bright or hot color for the perfect ambiance in a room.

Green

This calming color nurtures the child and reduces anxiety level. Green helps improve a child’s mental abilities and can be explored to the fullest regardless of the sex of the child. Most times green is used for boys. However, it can be toned down or paired with other colors to create the perfect room for a little princess.

When it comes to modern day kid’s room designs, a key factor is a subtlety and the ease of change through the stages of the child’s life. Traditional color schemes of blue for boys and pink for girls can now be played around and reinvented without losing the personality of the rooms. Color combinations work well with the infusion of different colors in blinds, sheets, furniture and artwork to give the final blend of colors.
