The right piece of artwork help to tie a room together, but I think it can help to encourage creativity and artistic flair within children. With stimulating shapes, and designs, I think wall art can do wonders regarding both décor and development.
Hi! David here from Papersteps, a company dedicated to designing, creating and personalizing wall art for children. I’m delighted to be invited to talk a little about wall art and to share some of my current nurseries, bedrooms or playrooms.
What initially started as me designing and drawing characters with my own sons soon became a little passion project that I knew I would love spending my time on. The idea continued to grow and grow until I decided to set myself up as business and to sell my artwork online.
As an experienced animator and graphic designer, I have experience with creating all kinds of artwork for all kinds of audiences. Combining what I love with the delight and fun, I have doing art with my sons was an opportunity not to be missed!
Here are some of my favorite styles of artwork I have enjoyed creating so far.
Colorful Children’s Wall Art
My first characters and creations were certainly the most colorful. I see these as being perfect wall hangers for any playroom or space that’s designed to be full of life. As I have said before, wall art can most certainly inspire creativity, and I really feel that these designs, in particular, can do just that!
For these first pieces, I wanted to create vibrant impactful designs that any child would immediately warm to. I hope designs like these inspire children to pick up their own pens and paintbrushes!
Making it possible for my wall art designs to be personalized is just another way I hope to make my work a little more special for little ones. As a gift, the ability to add a name, small message or a few meaningful words can really mean the world to younger recipients.
For some kids, the feel their room should be solely filled with belongings that are personal to themselves. I love making this a possibility with my wall art, as they can feature art in their room that can feel and look like it is just for them.
Scandinavian Styled Wall Art
I really enjoyed trying my hand at some Scandinavian styled artwork for children’s room. This design movement is based on simplicity and has become a popular choice for designing children’s bedrooms. With this minimalistic and often limited color approach to décor, it can often be harder to accessorize – which is where I came up with the idea to produce the following simplistic children’s designs.
I set about creating fun and friendly designs with simple lines and without using strong primary colors. I was delighted with how these designs came together and hope you agree! As you’ll see from these designs, it’s all too easy to inject some life and personality into art without relying solely on bold colors. These designs are a perfect choice for a nursery or youngsters’ room where colors are simple and softer.
Overall, I am of a firm belief that no wall art should be bought for the sake of it. By picking styles, designs, and artwork that can be tailored precisely to what your child loves and enjoys, you can really help make any room feel complete.
I hope that many children (and parents) will find joy and delight in my wall art and that my work can be displayed and enjoyed in all kinds of family homes.
